A sustainable system of construction materials and construction waste will change the approach to resource use in construction

Requirements for the end of waste status, technical regulations for construction with resources recovered from construction waste, during deconstruction of as a production by-product, testing and proof of mechanical and chemical characteristics, process monitoring, determination of pre-demolition audit procedures for buildings, data mapping in IT systems – these are just some of the tasks identified by the Latvian Construction Association (LBA) in cooperation with experts from Passive House Latvia and the Association of Building Materials Manufacturers in the research phase of the EU LIFE program and the state co-financed integrated project «Waste to Resources Latvia – boosting regional sustainability and circularity (Life «Waste to Resources»).

These and other tasks to be solved as a part of the Life «Waste to Resources» project to create a full-fledged construction material and construction waste circulation system in the public and commercial sector at the LASUA training conference «Construction waste management – how to promote sustainable development of the industry?» were introduced by LBA representative, certified German sustainable construction system DGNB international consultant, Brigita Vīksne.

The recording of the conference (in Latvian) is available here.
